Father’s Day

June 13, 2014

Celebrate Dad on his special day with a marvelous meal he will always remember. Las Palmas has several mouthwatering recipes to show him just how much you care this Father’s Day.
Like most men, dad is probably a big carnívoro. Make his day extra special by preparing a scrumptious Carne con Chile dish. The large cubes of sautéed boneless pork are slathered with rich red enchilada sauce – just the way he likes it. Served with some refried beans, white rice and hot flour tortillas, it will surely be a homerun in dad’s book.

In Mexico, no meal is more indicative of an authentic celebration than a delicious pozole. As a traditional pre-Colombian soup made with cooked nixtamal (hominy), meat (usually pork) and chile, Las Palmas offers two easy-to-impress recipes in just an hour: Mexican (Red) Pozole and Pozole Verde. Red pozole is typical in the Central Mexico states of Colima, Nayarit and Jalisco while the green variety is traditionally served along the Pacific Coast states of Guerrero and Colima. If you’re not sure which one dad will like, why not make him both?

A big Father’s Day get together merits a big entrée to take center stage for dad. A flavorful whole pork shoulder will be a satisfying meal for any guest attending the festivities. Seasoned with lots of fresh cracked black pepper, salt and then generously coated with Las Palmas Enchilada Sauce, the pork is roasted for 2 1/2 hours enclosed by banana leaves. This juicy and succulent main dish will have dad and everyone around the table wishing Father’s Day was every Sunday.

Men (dads in particular) always remember their favorite outstanding meals. And what better way to creating lasting memories for your special father than with delicious food he’ll love this Father’s Day. ¡Buen provecho!
